Saint Mary Parish Council

The Pastoral Council of St. Mary’s parish is one of two mandatory councils required under canon law. The function of the Pastoral Council is to act in an advisory capacity to the parish pastor. The council brings to the pastor the cares, concerns, and needs of our fellow parishioners. These can be either spiritual in nature or every day concerns that impact the parish community.

The council consists of 10 to 12 members selected by the pastor to serve staggered three year terms. The terms may be renewed for a second three-year time frame. Potential members may apply during the annual “Time and Talent” survey usually held in early fall. Terms begin in January of each year. Meetings are held eight times per year and are listed on the parish calendar and announced in the weekly Bulletin and monthly Newsletter.

Items for consideration on the agenda can be addressed to the pastor, council members, or through the Parish Office. Meetings are chaired by the council President and are held on the parish campus.
