Are you interested in becoming a Catholic?
The word "catholic" means universal!
Therefore, everyone and anyone is welcome in the Catholic Church.
Feel free, at any time, to join us at the Sunday Liturgy or at any of our
parish events. However, to share in the Sacraments, such as
receiving Holy Communion at Mass on Sunday, it is required that one enter
into full communion with the Catholic Church. The basic requirements
for entering into full communion are as follows:
1. You need to know the basics of what the
Catholic Church teaches and believes.
2. You need to understand and believe these
teachings. 3. You need to make
what we call a "public profession of faith" in the Church.
This is normally done through a process
called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.). This
usually consists of coming to Tuesday evening classes with the pastor and
others who are inquiring into the Catholic faith to learn the basics.
As you learn the basics you will be able to decide whether or not you want
to make a profession of faith. This is normally done with others at
the Easter Vigil Mass. However, there is also the possibility of
private instructions in the faith and some choose to make their public
profession at other times throughout the year.
The first step is to contact Fr. Sylvester
Nnaso, the Pastor of St. Mary Church, so as to discuss
your particular interest and situation.
